Has Anyone ever been scammed BUYING an Acc?

Im new, so i dont know much about the scam rates on these forums but ive seen 4 posts about Sellers complaining about getting scammed but not any buyers. The Reason i ask is because i put up a WTB X class for X amount and wondering if i need to use the middleman service or is buying usually safe.

Personally, I think you should go with the middleman service. If you're willing to spend X amount on an account for a game, why not spend a little more money to make sure you actually get the account? Just my thoughts though.

Well best to deal with people who have high posts counts, past trades or sells here. The bad thing is most here dont come here daily, and have only the desire you sell/trade/buy one acocunt then never come again.


Then theres people like me that have multiple accounts, and trade often.

My advice, as I have been scammed a couple of times here, is obviously the middleman service- if you chose to do trades outside of these, ask to speak via phone- see if its a child, or adult, see if they are willing to give you their home, work numbers- verify these numbers prior to trade/sell. No one wants someone calling their job about a "game" as that would be quite embarassing.

In the end, if someone wants to scam you, they will. Sadly, imo, 1 in 5 here are potentially scammers. I even get accused of scaming, even though all my trades have been sucessful, and I have references here. I am 34 yrs old, but I get all info prior to giving anything. I do this cause I earned a rep here, and I choose to do all my trades this way, as a scammer isnt going to give me all the info 1st, let me change it all over, get personal info- then get my trade. They just back out, saying, " dude your a scammer thats not right for you to ask for all info 1st." when in essence I am the one here that has several trades, and they have no rep here at all.

You can spot scammers sometimes simply by how the act, leet speak, or their ad says their account is "fucking leetsauce"

Children sadly, have no integrity for the most part- they feel NO remorse in scamming others, they even get excited over a successful scam. Children wont call you via phone, they have no job, and the normal scammer lingo to sound like an adult when asked to speak via phone is, "My girlfriend is sleeping. I dont want to wake her up."

I have heard that many times, and a grown adult will never say something so retarded. Adults do as they please, cause they pay their bills.


So just pay attention, to the PM's, speak via phone, get to know people here, actually make friends, and learn who is good to trade/buy/sell with. We have some solid members here. Always, always, always click peoples' names, and go investigate ALL of their posts. Cross reference banned acocunts with what they looked at- sometimes you may pick up an e-mail or aim/msn info linked to someone banned already.


Another thing- since I have rep here, I actually get info on some accounts to "try" them out. Some people just trust me, and some are actually scammers. What they do is- they give you info on the account to show you their trust in you (its false though- keep reading)

You play said account for a few mins, check gear, spec, bank, maybe a quick BG, etc. Then you log off ask them to change the info. Now I have had people do this as well, then ask for info to my accounts- but say they dont have orginal e-mail, secret quesiton and answer, but they say they are OO too. Thats obviously a scam. Never take less then you offer. IF you have all the imperative info, they should too.

Sometimes though, some people are just eager to play the "new" account, and even though they are legit- they seem like scammers.

In the end, just want to say, not all kids are scammers either, and there ARE some adults who are scammers as well. Just use some commonsense, and IF you are scammed, just remeber what goes around, comes around. Your taking a risk anytime yiou sell/buy/trade non-tangible items. Paypal is a scam imo period when it comes to non-tangibles.

IF you sell, I suggest taking money order ONLY. This is your only protection to ensure payment isnt reversed. ONLY use paypal with 100% honest sources that you have no shadow of doubt about.


I hope this has been informative for most, as I have been scammed somewhere in the early teens over the course of 15 yrs of gaming online. It sux whenever it happens, and I only wish/hope the person on the other side recieves some recourse in time.

If you legitamently do not want to get scammed you follow these steps and don't budge .

A - Verified Paypal
B - If they are the Owner of the Paypal account they should be able to provide proof they are the owner of the paypal account but providing you with a Drivers License photo copy or scanned and on the same piece of paper stating they are the owner of the Paypal account and they are authorizing the sale of how ever much $ it is and what they are purchasing - Which would be an Intangible good aka Internet account

The reason you do this is cause they can claim to be the owner of the account and then just get your info and then bam they transfer that character on another account but using your first and last name info you gave them . Then they will notify paypal and say that they didn't give authorization of this current transacation and then paypal will refund them the money back and you're out an account and the $.

C - Give them all of the information after the sale has went through and steps A-B are finished just give them the Account Name and Password . Then they call Paypal and verify and are agreeing to of this current purchase and or have them open a dispute and close it .

D- After that then you can give them the full information of the account . Cd keys - SQA - Account name - Password - Email.

To be honest, you never really know when exchanging accounts, unless you know the person on a RL basis. So, my advice is to use something like the 'middleman' service, im pretty sure egaming supply have one.

Using the middleman service how is that going to protect you at all ? What oh this person isn't to be trusted , Do not trade with them ? Thats it ?
