Even if you DO ship something and prove you had a tracking number paypal will still refund the money to the buyer. A month ago I sold an account and sent the account info via USPS priority with tracking and signature confirmation. The buyer claimed "unauthorized activity" on his paypal account so paypal refunded his money. Don't use paypal no matter what.

I'm not sure what the best way is now, money order, western union, I'd even accept a personal check before I went through paypal.

Yeah it's ridiculous the amount of scammers that have been trying to get me through paypal. Is Western Union more reliable than paypal?

Well I wouldn't know much, but if you look at Craigslist FAQ and scam preventing "fact sheet," Craigslist mgmt stringently warns us NOT to use Western Union as it is supposely a "paradise" for scammers. Just my few cents.

Or you can mitigate your risk by using pay pal with the Middleman Service offered by egaming. It sounds pretty promising, but once again, I haven't tried it yet. If you are concerned, I would try to request valid ID first, agree the ID info with the account info and see if the ownership reconciles, and also have him validate his email addresses associated with a professional instutitions so when it comes to the worst, you will have at least have a lead on where to start, to recover whatever you've been scammed.

Craigslist claims WU is a scammers paradise. Yes it is IF you don't have a third party entity to secure your item for you, and to make delivery before payment. We have this, it's middleman service.

Western Union is perfectly safe to use if you use middleman service as a seller. As a buyer, you have to know how to verify your seller well enough to know if he's a scammer or not, or he could recall the account on you later. We have a solution to this as well. It's my eBook that will very soon be promoted in conjuntion to using middleman service.
