Market Place Suggestion - Throw out your trash!

I sent a PM to InfamousFlame about this and he suggested that I post it here to get feedback for my idea

What I propose is an added forum for Trash. That way when a wtb/wts post has been fulfilled (bought/sold) it can be removed and thrown in the trash section. This will keep things nice and tidy on the forums and make things more efficient. Buyers can easily locate accounts that are being sold, without having to worry about going through the sometimes many pages of a listing, only to find out the account has already been sold.

The Trash section can house posts that have been bought or sold, but will still keep the threads available for future sellers/buyers so that they can compare prices see what has been sold in the past and for how much, if they feel like rummaging.

Many websites have this type of set-up already and it's something I'd love to see added to this one.

I'd be willing to moderate this process (if needed) and keep an eye out on all the posts here, if someone lists in a thread that the account is no longer for sale I'll remove it and put it in the trash.

So...ideas? comments? suggestions?

I think we also should make a forum for EGS staff only, where one of the staff pose any issue and all other members can participate in it. It can be usefull more than PMs.

I also think it's a good idea, perhaps once it's done the seller could 'flag' it finished than it gets moved automatically after 24 hours or something, in case some change happens and they want to 'unflag' it so they can continue with the sale.

If it were put into an archive section where only mods could see it and a change happened there would be extra work involved in order to retrieve the thread (showing history) or start a new thread.. without the history on it.

My idea would be to have the trash section open to the public (only a mod would be able to move a thread to the trash) but everyone else would still be able to view the posts. That would enable people to still see what was and has been posted and also see prices, so they can compare for future sellers or whatever else they want to do.

I like this idea. We already use a thread prefixing system internally for organising our staff stuff, so I'm wondering if this could be useful. Even if not for having automoving threads, people would be able to see at a glance if a thread was 'closed'. The problem is, changing prefixes can only be done by the author within an hour of posting, or by staff, thus adding more workload and basically rendering the idea useless.

The current system is that threads just float down to the bottom of the forum over time and active ones float up. Maybe we could look into letting thread authors close/open their own threads. That way you know before looking at it, whether it's active or not..?

Yes it' a nice idea too. this way we will not have a need to make trash forum

Making a trash forum lets the finished threads get out of the main forums though, which I think would be a better idea.

Hmm, interesting thought. Derfy is the guru of our forum system, I'm sure he'll have an answer
