Some questions before buying FFXI account:

Even if a MM is used, what stops the original owner claiming a stolen account and getting it back?

Is paypal and verified MM the safest way to go with transaction

How can the MM verify that there has or hasn't been any jail time / warnings (not possible right)?

Bump for this, good questions I dont have the 100% anwsers for... but I will say do not deal with anyone who wants to only deal through IM's or email... if you do take care!

For FFXI, the person trying to take the account back needs to know details* about the account. We change those details during the MM process.

Specifically, the individual needs to know the current credit card information, address on the account, name on the account, date of birth on the account, and POL Keys for the account.

SE is a little glitchy. Sometimes, they will accept 4/5. However, they will never accept 3/5 (from my experience).

Using a middleman will allow the account to be verified during the transaction process, where the middleman will change the password on the account and as many details as possible in order to help secure the account for the buyer.

Since I quit FFXI in January '08, SE has implemented some form that allows people to submit their account as "compromised". I'm unable to go into detail about how this works, both for security reasons and ignorance on my own part.
