Guild Wars accounts can easily be recovered

I had a guild wars account on me for many years and one of my friends decided that he wanted it. So I gave it to him for FREE. So I gave him all the keys and passwords anything that he would need for ownership. He later sold the account to one of his friends. His friend played the game for 2-3 months and quit. I, one day, just for kicks tried to login to the account. I didn't give the password, so I used the password recovery service the first time and was unsuccessful. I tried it a second a week later and still no response from NCSoft. Finally after the third time out of the blue, NCSoft sent me a confimation email to change the password and I could play my old GW account. Keep in mind I currently do not have the keys or anything?? WTF??

Oh well, just like old times. Good ole Free-to-Play games!

Maybe it will give you a smile or a cheap laugh , but just be fore warned if you buy a GW account! NVsteve

But they usually ask for the cdkeys, date of creation of the account, date of birth, Credit card if you used it on the online store....
So it is very hard to get the account back unless u r the original owner

I got scammed one time like this way . I bought an account from someone and after 3 months he get it back....

Ive heard some horror stories about PlayNC recovery.

I have a few accounts that I bought, that I do not have access to the playNC accounts, I can still use them, but w/e.

Its crazy the inconsistency that NCsoft has in their security.

I thought they deleted characters or something after 90 says of inactivity. Many moons ago I thought I read that they were doing something like that. i dunno, maybe it was a different game but either way...its still been a long time since i played guild wars.

dont think guild wars does that. Diablo 2 does that, maybe thats what your thinking?

Here is how the Guild Wars password system works:

To transfer an account, you should do 3 things:

1.) change the email that you require to log in
This will require to seller to confirm the email transfer, at which point you will be able to use the new email/password combo to log in.

2.)obtain the original CD Keys
If you dont do this, ArenaNet will allow the owner of them to change both the email and the password on the account after they provide information to ArenaNet that confirms the account is still theirs (including PlayNC Account information and GW account information)

3.)obtain PlayNC Account information if the account is linked to a PlayNC account
This is routine maintenance, but if you dont get the PlayNC Account information, then the player may still be able to retrieve the username/pass. I haven't heard of it being done, but there is no point in taking risks.


If you fail to do any of these steps, you may risk having the account you purchased taken back from you..

I have heard horrible things about Play NC/ Arena net. I would dread having to go through this with them.

Nope I play On and Off and by off i been not playing for 2 years. lol
But when I get on all my stuff is still there.

i've done it. but kind of different. one time i had a bad trade.. then turns out the guy took his stuff back so i USING my CD key i didnt give him .. got it back from NC soft. took a pic of the card with the key the box Cd ext... and boom they switched my accoutn to a NEW ncsoft account.

i could do it right now if i wanted but i'm not like that
