You would think...

...that in a game like FFXI, a Warrior would be one of the strongest damage-dealing classes and more of a decent tank (without the need to sub NIN), because it would go more-over with the story/setting of FFXI.

...that in a game like FFXI, a Ninja would be more of a damage dealer than a tank, simply because ninjas are supposed to be stealth warriors; maybe a back-up tank.

...that in a game like FFXI, a Monk would possess holy spells/powers, or be renamed to a mercenary or fighter job instead?

...that in a game like FFXI, a White Mage would be more similar to a Druid, and have better spells than protect, shell, and haste to buff party members, and possibly make them move faster (like a Bard has the chocobo song).

...that in a game like FFXI, Dragoon should be a better solo player from beginning to the end, because IMO Dragoon are nerfed and don't get the respect that they deserve.

...that in a game like FFXI, a Summoner would be equally as powerful as a Black Mage, in its summons.

AND FINALLY...

...that in a game like FFXI, PvP would be a bit better than Ballista, in the sense that you could just battle people wherever and whenever you want...

AND...

...that in a game like FFXI, you could CHOOSE YOUR SIDE; ie: become a Goblin, an Orc, or a Quadav, and have more unique story-lines towards the mob side of the story, live where they assemble, have quests/missions relating to their status and what they believe in Vana'Diel, and most-importantly, have CLASHES, where there are epic battles between the good and bad sides of Vana'Diel players every x days or x hours...spread apart all over Vana'Diel randomly.

i honestly think that less thought goes into the jobs and more goes into the creation of gear and all the stupid hoops you need to jump through, i mean think about salvage gear ......or the huge amount of time it consumes say when your 65-75 it feels like months.. and yeah being a drg we get no respect ..

I agree the jobs could have been a little more thought out. But I don't PvP.

I think more time and thought needs to go into jobs. Equipment is a joke, really. Gear is overpriced - you either can't buy it and/or can't craft it, because of the gear is high, so are the items needed to craft it.

Jobs are repetitive. PvP also should be improved to compete with other games.

FFXI is only about gear IMO, rush to 75 then what? At 75 should be more adventures/RPG rather then gather for sea/sky/salvage/nyzule/ZNM, everything is about gear. Nobody completed CoP/ZM for the missions they did it for the armor you obtain after. Its not fun to me anymore really.

but yes, FFXI lacks in some areas but excels many MMOs if not all in areas like story line and endgame gratification, you actually get back the effort you put in and the rewards are great ie relic etc..

Go read the book thingy in Tavnazia Safehold on the alter thing next to the bridge...

At least I think that's where it tells you about where the mobs came from.

The story line itself was fine but it never really tied into anything else to do with the game.


Item whoring is a common "problem" with ALL online MMORPGs its all about trying to be the "best", doesn't matter how good the story is people are still going to go for the best items over anything else, and the people that actually play for the sake of fun get slated for being nubs because they don't have the best gear.
