Account Buying bad?

Ok, so i've played FFXI for the past 4-5 years on and off. It's always seemed to me that anyone who is known to be playing on a bought account is shunned by the Endgame, as well as most of the social, community. How does one get around this? Are there ever stories from people on here that have this problem?

It's like the porn industry. No one talks about it openly, yet nearly everyone participates in some way shape or form.

If people aren't buying accounts, they're buying gil. With prices so low these days, I doubt there's many left playing that haven't purchased a virtual item or currency at least once in their gaming career. Also it's becoming almost second nature on the regular forums, and it's not really that big of a deal.

With transfer options and name change available, no one is ever going to know unless you tell them anyways. I've played a number of the accounts I sell, and not once have I ever been called out on one of them. Just don't go around telling people, and hopefully you have some knowledge how to play the character. People may suspect if your a complete newbie picking up a relic character, but not if you have at least some knowledge of the game.

Well... It makes sense that bought account users are shunned... In end-game you are depended on to do a good job, and generally people that buy accounts dont have a clue as to what their doing. It would be best if the buyer spent at least a bit of his/her time leveling one of the unleveled jobs up to 75 so they can get a feel for it.

well yes and no with the learning how to play, it comes pretty fast realy. It's more of a commitment thing with FFXI than anything else, if you just bought an account than you really have no commitment to the server or even the game. For a shell to pick you up that deals with highly valued items, that may take an incredible amount of time to get, they would like to think that you have some sort of invested time into the game. In otherwords you aren't just going to get your stuff and bounce on them. SO i would say it's more of a trust issue than a performance thing.

When I buy high level accounts that contain classes or jobs that I'm unfamiliar with, I always take my time to research about it and how to play it online by searching Google.

If I don't know where an area is while I'm playing a game, or something that I really should know (but I don't since I bought the account), I usually just ask people to help me because my memory slipped ("I just came back into the game after I quit a year or so ago").

I agree with Mr. CEO. When I obtain a new 75 job Ive never used before I take time to study it and use it out in the wild and learn the traits and abilities and which sub jobs to use, before I use it in my end game LSs

Yeah, just don't tell them that you bought the account and learn to play the job. If you've been playing for 4-5 years, then I'm sure you know the game mechanics well enough that you would not be able to be picked out as an account buyer.

If people give you flak then it happens. I've been considering this very same situation. Yet I know I can play NIN, THF, WHM, BLM. Showing your consideration and time investment to the job(s) will certainly reflect at least some positive light... or so I believe.

I've been wondering lately if such things as a name change would be possible. I have been out of XI for quite some time yet I have finally been in touch with two old friends. One of them states that you can possibly create a new name for your character but only during a world transfer (An awesome new feature I am not accustomed to either from long ago!). Apparently if a character on the world you're transferring to has the same name as your current then you can change it. This is what I am told however so I cannot verify this myself to give 100% certainty. If anyone here happens to know and can clarify upon this that would be great.

Name change is the big reason why elite accounts go unnoticed a lot more than they use to.
