FFXI & Windows Vista

Does anyone have problem getting into the game using windows Vista laptop? I keep getting a black screen (music playing) right after select character screen. Advise, appreciated, thanks.

Running Windows Vista Ultimate on my desktop PC, and I log in/play just fine.

Do you think the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and 256MB of shared video memory not enough for the comp to run this game?

Intergrated graphics and shared memory are sadly quite common on laptops. However those specs should be more then sufficient to run FFXI at modest settings.

Solution:
Uninstall Vista.
Install XP.
Reinstall game.

Not sure if it would actually help, per se, but who wants Vista anyway?

I had a rough time installing, but once I was able to install, everything seems A-ok

Vista isn't *that* bad. It's issues are is that it uses a heck of a lot more resources than XP does, so for gaming setups for most games, you're better off with XP. XP is a tried and tested OS, and it can and will get the job done.

I uninstalled Vista on my laptop and replaced it with XP. There's just no way i'll use Vista just yet.

Jinsa, What laptop model do you have? Do you have Intel Shared graphic card ?
