FFXI Lottery

Has the upcomming ffxi lottery started to ruin the economy on any other servers before the winners are even chosen? On my server behemoth hides have dropped down 400k and dusk items are dirt cheap. Leathercraft was a good profit craft, now there really is nothing else to make. SE needs to think this stuff through. I imagine when the lottery winners actually get there items the economy will suffer even more.

Any time that something like this happens, people get scared and react like the world is going to come to an end. Dusk items will probably be relatively worthless for a month, maybe two, until people realize that they are still good items and that hides still aren't easy to come by. As for me, here's hoping I get to be one of the 100,000,000g winners who gets to help ruin the economy!

SE never thinks too far ahead, but it works out when people get flakey about hard to come by items and start selling cheap... makes for good profit later!

Well i think SE thinks that by people having more money they'll spend the money and put money back in the economy. The thing i think thats gonna really ruin it is the new synth support for the next update. If people are able to HQ things easier there gonna become easier to come by and get cheaper and cheaper.

The one problem I have about the lottery is that there isn't really anything special there. Hmmm let me see a +1 of what ever cursed gear you want or 100mil gil. Granted yes if you don't ever plan on doing HNMs or dynamis then some of it would be nice but come on... 100mil gil. You can get almost anything you want with that. Even pay a HNM ls to farm up one of the abj and buy the -1 gear for a 1/4 of the gil you just won.

Personally I think this is SEs way of trying to boost up the economy from all the gil that the keep pulling out cause of the RMTs. When you think about it each time they ban RMTs and there "over 500mil gil" (what they wrote in one of there reports) it really hits hard on the economies across the game. I just hope that this will actually work well and the market might get a little boost.

But like everyone esle I do hope i'll get that 100mil gil. Now if I can only win the lottery in RL i'll be set. XD

i think this brought a lot of excitement to the game but they are really taking a long time to announce the numbers >.<. i'm trying to get my prize sooner than later!

The FFXI lottery is SE's version of our "economic stimulus" ... haha I like that idea. Wonder if Mr. Bush had a hand in this?
