EU POL issues

so i installed the EU playonline thing from a link a potential trader gave me, http://dl.square-enix.co.jp/poleu/setup.exe, and it went smoothly, i updated POL and it let me change the PW to an EU account... only now it has for some reason stopped recognizing FF is installed? error message (Error:020)
i know its still on my computer... anyone know what i need to do?
also, is there any way i can switch between which version i can run? now i cant enter the membership on my NA account lol ;;

well, I had the same problem. I installed the US version (Full game)on my PC. I bought a EU acc, so I had to install the EU client to change pass and info. when I tried to play through the EU client it says there is no FFXI installed.

so just go back to your main cleint (where you installed the full game)when you want gto play. only use the new client when you need to chnage informatin or password.
the reason you can't play on the new client you just downloaded is that there is no Final Fantasy XI installed on that folder.

What Playonline say is accurate in the sense that EU POL and NA FFXI will not work together, hence your EU POL will detect no FFXI installed.

if you have HD partitions or 2 HD, ideally you could have the US POL + US FFXI version on one drive (for example C while having EU POL installed in another drive (for example D. This will avoid clashes and allow user to update info on EU POL as and when necessary. Different directory but same drive might works for me sometimes, but hangs the system pretty much.

if that is the only EU account you have, you might wish to consider downloading EU FFXI + EU POL.

This is an easy fix to get around, FFXI uses Reg Keys to detect what version you have installed.
I have both NA and EU clients installed on the same drive on the same computer i also have diiferent versions of WoTG and ToA installed on the same computer for ONE version, all you do is change the REGKEY to which ever version you want to install/use at the time and it all works fine.

Open your registry hive by running REGEDIT

Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
then expand SOFTWARE

here you will see Playonline and either PlayonlineUS or Playonline EU

literally all you do if you want to use or install an EU version of FFXI or client us change the US to EU or vice-versa, if you have installed the EU client and the US version no longer works just change this to the version you have installed.

If you have installed the EU client over the US client and not in a seperate folder in programe files (which you should of! just change the path to PlayonlineEU for example) then just change the reg key to PlayonlineEU and you entire FFXI installation will work np.

I hope this made some kind of sense, im sorry i am a I.T. techie in real life and am not very good and putting what i mean in plain english lol!
