Large order payment types

Is there some reason that sellers seem to only want to use Western Union for large orders? I'm not familiar with WU at all. Every time I read over the FAQs or Q and A sections on their website, it states that you should not use WU unless you know the person you are sending to. Is that just a cover they use to protect themselves? Anyone that can shed light on why WU is preferred over PayPal for larger orders, please fill me in. Thanks all

Western Union protects a seller from potential chargebacks, and is generally much less riskier than using Paypal - which is why many people that are selling characters or gil for over $1,000 generally prefer WU (I myself offer potential buyers a $20-40 discount should they pay me via WU instead of Paypal).

Ahh, I see. Thank you. That makes sense. I guess I don't know PayPal as well as I should then. I always feared WU because it seemed to favor the seller while PayPal seemed to favor the buyer. Since the seller is highly reputable over at ckgaming, I think I can trust them with WU. Thanks again

Be careful when thinking about people as, "highly reputable". As we have seen in the past sometimes the good go bad. Consider what he is reputable for in contrast to what you are buying. Is the guy known for flipping $200 accounts and now suddenly trying to sell you a $2500 account? Or is he always selling high end stuff? Are the people calling him reputable reputable themselves? CK doesn't have a policy against multiple accounts, so I could create a 100 accounts there and brag myself up. Just be safe.

Selling a bunch of piddly garbage for feedback then scamming people on high end stereo equipment or something has been an eBay scam for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if someone hasn't tried those scams around the websites.

Whether you go through me or someone else using a middleman is always my recommendation. If what you are spending is more than you can afford to lose, usually more than a couple hundred bucks for most people, the $30 is cheap insurance, specially when the seller only takes WU.

My suggestion is only send money through WU IF you have a middleman to aquire the account from the seller. This way sellers are certain to get their money without dispute, and also the buyer is certain to get their verified account.

If you fail to use a MM and still use WU, you have nearly zero action against the seller once the money is sent, and they fail to deliver the account as advertised. If they send you a level 1 account, they've delivered, and your out of luck.

I personally hate paypal, but it's really the only way to get your transactions on record. Paypal WILL most likely suspend your account for 6 months if you have a claim opened against you for virtual items. Actually they may suspend both the buyer AND the seller as they are cracking down hard on virtual transactions. When using paypal, verify people before you trade, prevention is the key.

Well, the seller is actually the admin middleman of that site. So I wont have a middleman I guess, but I think I can trust them.

Well, I'm getting to see why one would want Western Union for larger orders. I'm already on my second business account, and they are jumping down my throats because of the sum of money that is coming in. Like what's the deal right? They are taking $50-80 cuts into my transactions already. So they freeze my account and want more information. My first one they closed because I couldn't provide tracking numbers, I was trying to explain to them that I can't provide them because there isn't anything tangible to send out! Now, they are asking for tracking numbers again, but now I'm saying that I'm offering a "service", so they didn't specify which orders (so there is no button to enter numbers), and I can't continue without entering a number! I'll have to call them if they don't respond soon. It's quite a headache.

I'm been offering 5%-10% (depending on customer history) on sales for using Western Union rather than Paypal. From a buyer perspective, if I never dealt with the customer before, I would get a middle man to hold the account/item before sending out the money. I had no problems with WU, and all my clients end up happy.

P.S. If Paypal closes another one of my accounts, I'm going on a rampage, you all better get out of my way!
