Will War really be different?

I'm currently in the Beta and have played Wow for 3 years, I've tried a few online free mmo's but... meh.

Wow has been great for me, I've enjoyed all the toons I've played, One toon I have at 70 I leveld through BG before that changed and she has the Conqueror Title, I've tried all the professions and maxed most if them.. except fishing.. just could NOT fish. I've enjoyed the people I play with and the guild I am in, the biggest thing for us has been our regular town raids, we go to other factions cities and wipe it clean, we take out faction leaders, we camped the gates of Kara, TK, ZA... those were truly the best times in wow, but they only happened around once a month.

So far in War, the second night playing there was a town raid and the 3 of us online went and smacked people in the head.

We've had parties with every race in them and q'd for bg's from each person.. without having to go to a battlemaster. We've leveled from BG and Rvr... and on top of that the classes are fresh.. even healing is actually fun and not a burden as the healers are hybrid and there is a 2 target system, one friendly and one enemy so you can actuvely heal and dps concurrently.

I think it's a completely different game and really does everything wow 'should' have done.

Even if WAR is as great as everyone thinks it will be, its still gonna take alot of effort and time to draw ppl from WoW. Just look at AoC before it was actually released everyone thought that it was gonna be 1000x better than WoW and when it actually came out everyone was disappointed and most of them came back to WoW

War is good, even better then AOC imo, but has one short coming that will yet again dissapoint many.


Its too linear based, just like AOC. The feel of the classes was great, surpassing AOC for me. But the linear areas killed it. Everything was perfect- why cant these people make their games open world like wow????? Thats HUGE imo, I want the feeling of freedom in movement. I want to feel almost alone in the wilds of the lands like in SWG or WOW.

These developers are comign out with great games- but keep putting them in a box. Stop making them linear for god's sake......

Warhammer: Age of reckoning will not beat wow, neither will AOC. Both are linear based- and I played both as beta.

Had either been non-linear, they would have had a chance.

I like the look of WAR, its heavily pvp based and pvp is my favorite element of wow.

I too am looking forward to war, based on my limited beta experience (played at a friend's house). RvR looks really fun especially keep battles, and i think the classes are more entertaining to play as than your standard mmo characters.

The great thing is that Mythic is NOT trying to make the next WoW. They are allowing the game to be different. I played preview weekend and the Open Beta is coming up next. I for one can't wait! I've quit WoW already and I'll be playing WAR.

I haven't played in the beta, but I'm planning on switching over to Warhammer when it comes out. WoW is just too grindy for my tastes. I find myself mostly logging in to PvP in the battlegrounds, but I'm getting sick of those now.

The game won't dominate WoW, but it'll do just fine for itself.
