Gaming is getting way too easy. Back in the everquest days, things were hard and took forever and meant something. Clearing a zone wasn't something anyone with time could do, it was dang hard

Not too many good online games to play anymore. Diablo 3 and Starcraft better hurry up because i'll be bored till then.

I have been playing ffxi for a long time now, since it's release. The thing I find boring about it is, most of the new jobs that come out are the same as the older jobs just with different animations and the named abilities are differrent. Like Dancer, a mix of some whm stuff and drk stuff. With this job u can drain TP, HP and also heal yourself and other pt members. Scholar, you have the best of both worlds of whm and blm. Some of the options i liked with SCH, like changing the weather around your pt members.

Gear doesnt change much either. The newer gear doesnt really give no interest. Its all the same... +STR +DEX +MP +MP while healing +HP +Magic Atk +TP. Nothing in gear really has been in my opinion a first of its kind in a way. Plus I think even though it is an MMO, if they would even let some people do a NM solo fight or maybe 1-3 peeps for some really cool and nice gear things would be open alot more to players that desire more fromt he game that dont have an end game LS or HNMLS do have to do things. I mean if u dont have an endgame ls, its sure gonna be hard to find people to go with you to kill what u want. I think this is where SE has kinda failed in the game for me. I dont wanna dedicate my life to an hnmls that expects you to be on at least 20hrs/7days a week. I do have other things in life to do.

In my opinion big companies are just dishing out video games for profit before they think of what they want to put in it. I do not think they are getting worse per-say but they are not great.

I've been playing FFXI for over four years now. It does get boring at times, but when that happens, I just take a break. I have a static partner and we'll dual level jobs that complement each other together. (ie my smn with his nin, my whm with his rng) This works well because one of the jobs is always needed and we won't except invites unless both can join. I also have friends who I've known since I started playing. We merit together (usually while drinking) and it makes meriting fun. I don't play everyday and I refuse to make a game my job. That seems to work for me.

I agree with some of the points made about XI. To acquire what you'd like in endgame you have to devote an incredible amount of time into an hnmls generally. Unless you're lucky for whatever reason(s) such as having a very fair linkshell with their drop system and attendance or however they manage it.

I think one other thing about XI but related to time was just how long some events were. Waiting for 24 hours or more for an HNM to respawn? Camping an HNM for hours? It was about arranging yourself for these events even 2-3 hours to play is normally okay. Not everyone can get up at 5AM camp up to 3 hours plus fight another 10-30 minutes and make it to work without getting a reprimand hahah. Not that this happened to me and it is going into more length than necessary but I am trying to emphasize how much of a strain it can be on most people to really get what or where they'd like in-game.
I realize there is a balance to be made for the economy and made a modification to some spawn times would really hurt it. It is just really sad and moreso when you do get consistent claims but no drops. I am sure this sounds like a whine and dine on my complaints but it is a very real aspect about XI that is indeed a problem for many. I love the game and the series of Final Fantasy though still.

I think a large part of the problem with MMO's is the wussifaction factor.

Take age of conan for example. The game had huge potential... Free for all PVP, good graphics, awesome melee combat system...

What happens when the game is released? People scream about the pvp, so they change the pvp. The casters scream about the game being focused on melee. So they buff casters... The pvp combat system for melee is basically run after someone and do auto attack until they die, or if your lucky they'll be stupid enough to stand their ground.

The content has to be raped for the greater good of the customers...

Same thing happened to WOW. At first we had open world pvp, no real reason to kill the other faction. Then the honor system came and it was a blood bath, massive mayhem everywhere. Then the battlegrounds came, they were fun, but if you wanted any rewards you had to be a hardcore player and maintain a steady rank always climbing.

People whine about the PVP being to hard and what happens? They make it so EVERYONE can eventually get all the pvp gear, so instead of using a ladder system where the best of the best get rewarded, instead everyone gets rewarded. After a while they changed it back by introducing the Arena system...

It's like a virtual form of welfare...

Yes. Most games are bad. Blizzard happen to put out the best MMORPG there's ever been.
