I agree with above poster about being labeled as a bad player. If you are leveling a low level job at the beginning of the game, there are things that indicate that you are a new player. You have a little emblem next to your name, you have no subjob, you are rank 1 and you are limited to a certain selection of jobs. If you are brand new and trying to level a job in a party with a bunch of level 75's, or you are starting a new job but you have subjob and you're rank 10 and other things that indicate you are a veteran, people are going to immediately recognize your lack of skill/familiarity with the game and either label you as a terrible player or an account buyer.
I would recommend starting a new account, and leveling through all the way to 75. This will get you very familiar with the mechanics of the game and allow you to more easily transition into a much better account. Perhaps level White Mage or Red Mage on your new account so that if you decide to buy a better account to eliminate some of the work involved in having an elite account, you can still have a second "Powerleveling" account for any new jobs that you want to level.
